Learn How to Promote Your Band by the Man Who Teaches the Major Labels!
By Tim Sweeney
This is to introduce you to a new seminar I will be presenting from October 8 - 10 in Phoenix, Arizona entitled Artist Strategies: Effectively Developing Your Communication Skills. Please mark the date on your calendar so you can make sure to attend this brand new event. At the end of this letter, I will be presenting a special offer to any MPB subscribing artists who contact me by September 30, 2004.
This new seminar is very exciting to me for a number of reasons. This first Artist Strategies seminar will focus completely on you and I developing your personal and business communication skills. Let's take a few minutes to talk in detail about some of the topics that I will be focusing on.
This seminar has been specifically designed so that each workshop will focus on one topic at a time, so that you will have a very clear understanding of how every aspect works and to alleviate any feelings of being overwhelmed about putting these new strategies into practice.
One of the first workshops will focus on self-doubt and procrastination. We will spend an entire hour openly discussing how self-doubt can lead to the procrastination that is preventing you from doing the important things that move your career forward. Your hidden self-doubt fuels the procrastination that keeps you from promoting your music on a daily basis versus just when you have a show coming up, going back and re-recording songs or remixing them instead of saying "they are good enough" let's manufacture and sell them. Procrastination also leads to the lack of reviews, airplay and the lack of CD sales you are hoping for because you are not sending your materials to the various media, industry, and fan contacts you have well in advance of when they are needed. So we will spend an entire workshop addressing where self-doubt comes from, how you can make sure that your are in control of it, and how to stop it from fueling the procrastination that screws up your career and gets you depressed that nothing is happening.
Once we have addressed self-doubt and procrastination we will have workshops that focus on building a new foundation for your career, using your new "self-belief". Self-belief comes from the confidence that you will have of actually learning and putting into practice your own verbal and writing skills. I plan on building this new foundation of self-belief in you by covering new strategies that we have not had the opportunity to discuss at Music Strategies. For example, during the seminar we will be talking about how to "control the conversation" you are having with people you have just met. By learning this important skill alone, you will make sure that they not only remember the experience of meeting you and receiving a CD sampler or promotional material, they will be immediately excited to review it right then and there. The ability to control the conversation with new people who will become your fans will parlay into your self-belief and confidence to control the conversation with various media, industry and business contacts who are not responding to you the way you want them to right now.
In addition to being able to control the conversation, it is important that we spend time during a specific workshop helping you understand who is in the audience at your particular events. Too often we are excited that "X" amount of people have shown up and we don't spend the time to get to know each and every one of them. This means we are missing the opportunity to build relationships with them where we can enlist their help in the future to generate more interest in our art to their friends, and influence the media in our hometown. By understanding the individual people who come to your shows or events, you will build personal relationships with them to where they want to buy your CD's and come to future shows to support your artistic career.
These are just a few of the specially designed workshops and topics that I have planned for this brand new seminar in Phoenix. We will be covering a lot more including a number of issues that many of you have been having a difficult time with. For example, what exactly to say during the conversation with someone you don't know when handing out a CD sampler, to making sure that your email is actually communicating what you want it to say and that it will generate the interest and results that you are hoping for.
I strongly believe that the success for any kind of artist whether a music artist, book author, filmmaker, painter, photographer, sculptor, actor, etc., greatly depends upon their ability to communicate for themselves who they are as an artist and the value they bring through themselves and their art to the individual person who experiences it.
A few last points that I would like to bring up to you before letting you know the details of this special offer. I have chosen Phoenix, Arizona for a very specific reason. I honestly believe that Phoenix in the next five to ten years has the greatest potential of being one the of the best artistic based cities in the United States where music artists, book authors, filmmakers and visual artists will join together in support of one another to make an artistic community that will rival other cities around the country. It is important that you join me in Phoenix because I want you to see first hand what I am talking about, where you can actually get out and experience the city and the artists within it. This will also be one of the first events that I have ever presented where I will be combining artists of all formats, not just music, in one seminar together instead of separating them. Be prepared that instead of sitting at a table with a handful of other music artists you may be sitting next to filmmakers, painters, poets, or other artists that I feel would be important for you to have a relationship with.
I have chosen a special hotel in the Phoenix area in which to present this seminar. While they will not require that you stay there to receive this discounted price for Artist Strategies, I specifically chose this hotel because of my previous stays there. Each room in this hotel is a suite which features two double or queen size beds, and a couch in the living room area that pulls out to a third bed. You can either enjoy your suite all to yourself, or you can share your suite with up to three other artists to save on travel expenses. This hotel will also be offering both non-alcoholic and mixed drinks free to each artist that is staying at the hotel for the cocktail parties. They will also be offering to each of you who stay, a free made to order breakfast each and every morning.
Now that we have covered a lot of details, lets discuss this special offer. This offer is only available if you call me directly no later than September 30, 2004. With your registration, you will receive a pass to the entire three-day Artist Strategies seminar. The price during this special offer is only $125 and will be available until September 30, 2004. Please note that passes are non-transferable, and non-refundable.
To register for this event before this MPB subscriber offer expires, call me at (951) 303-9506.
I look forward to seeing you in Phoenix.
Best Regards,
Tim Sweeney
