Here is what some of our readers had to say about the Music Phone Book. If you have a success story of your own, email it to us at testimonials@musicphonebook.com. Be sure to include your name, your band or business name, and a link to your website so we can include your link with your letter.

Here's what some MPB readers have to say:

When I was approached to be a part of the Independent Artist Registry, I said why not. As a Music Phone Book subscriber, I know what a quality operation they run and knew the IAR would be a great way to find artists I may not get a chance to hear. I especially like the way the IAR is structured. Being entirely artist driven, I know the demos I get will be from serious performers with talent. Finding those bands is my top priority and its not easy. I'm excited to see who the first Indie Award winner will be.

- Steve Robertson, Atlantic Records A&R

The MPB is a great resource for extremely talented and lazy people such as myself. I'm a musician not an agent. I don't have the time or desire to spend all day on the phone lining up gigs. But to get the shows ya gotta do it. Well ever since I got your 2005 Music Phone Book I probably spend about 10% of the time on the phone that I used to - and I'm lining up more shows than ever before. Keep it up!

- Greg, Bug's Buds

I really appreciate you guys work putting together the MPB. Its probably the most informational book for musicians with dreams that I have ever seen. I thank God for the people that created the Music Phone Book, you guys are the greatest!

- Steven, Hidden Element

I am the owner/general manager of Jack Rabbits in Jacksonville, Florida. I have heard of the Music Phone Book when asking out-of-town musicians how they came to contact us. Thanks for helping us get the word out about Jack Rabbits

- Anne, Jack Rabbits

As a national act road manager for the last 10 years, 95% of my job is to take care of last minute problems that always come at the worst times. Scrambling to find a piece of equipment, sound reinforcement, promoters, production companies etc is hard to do when your in a strange town. Its even harder to do ASAP which is always the case.

Three years ago we had a problem with one of the guy's amps and couldn't find a place that could fix it or give us something to use for the night. I headed to the facility manager's office to see if there was someone he could recommend. He says "No problem" and hands me a copy of the Music Phone Book.

The first place I called said they could take care of the repair as well as set us up with the same exact amp our guitarist used.

To be honest, I had never heard of the Music Phone Book before then. But I know a good thing when I see it. I made the band's regular manager order me all three editions of the Music Phone Book as soon as we got off the tour. The book has saved my (and the band's) ass more than I can remember.

I no longer go out on tour without a copy of your book. I know you make it for regional up and coming bands, but even on a national level, I have never seen anything that can hold a candle to the MPB.

Thanks a million for the outstanding book you put together!

- Matt Need, Tour Manager

Do you know how hard it is to find venues for bands under 21? We'll its much easier for us now that we have the MPB! Great format, great resources. The MPB is definitely a must for and band who wants to tour, and its probably one of my wisest investments so far.

Thanks guys!

- Patricia Brigidi

The Music Phone Book has become the industry's new Bible. It's a must have for any and all touring bands, bookers, and support personnel. Keep up the good work and I'll keep using it.

- Larry White, Former Jane's Addiction manager

I get a couple hundred bands calling me each week that want to play a gig at one of the clubs I book. Most of them don't have a large enough following or the talent i'm looking for.

But when I see a independent band listed in the Music Phone Book, I know they have their shit together - those are the bands I want to work with.

- Billy Cohen, Talent Buyer for the Last Day Saloons in Santa Rosa & San Francisco
http://www.lastdaysaloon.com

I wanted to email you to tell you how kick ass your book is. I had no idea a book like yours even existed. Ive only had it for a month and have already lined up eight new shows - straight out of your book. Everyone knows the places to play in their home town, but getting out of town is a pain in the ass. i know, ive been booking our band for two years. After i got your book, i spent way less time on booking, and got a line on a bunch of new shows. Having the home phone numbers to the people who book the clubs is awesome, but then listing what day and time to call... that blows my mind. Actually your whole book does. I'm going to tell everyone I know how helpful the music book is.

Unbelievable.

- Patrick Zorin from Aprils Silhouette

The Music Phone Book is the shit! I cant believe what a great job you do in putting it together. I bought the Musician's Atlas a few years ago and it sucked so bad I swore I would never buy another music guide again.

Then a friend of mine showed me a copy of the Music Phone Book last year and I couldn't believe how much better your book was than the Atlas. The music club information is just amazing. The number of music clubs you list, the home or cel phone numbers of the person who books the shows, the cap & format, the average age of the people who come to see shows. It just blew my mind.

If the Music Phone Book was a hooker, I'd be your pimp! Every musician should know about your book and im tellin' everyone!

- Lance Denni from Rookoshot

Before we got the Music Phone Book, we were playing out of town maybe once a month - as soon as I got it I was able to book every weekend for the next three months. It used to take me several phone calls, emails, and countless hours just to get a hold of the right person - but now I can get ahold of that person immediately because all the contact info is in the book.

I've also found some great new venues from the Music Phone Book that I wouldn't have otherwise known about. This is my third year using the MPB, and I wouldn't even consider booking a tour without it. Thank you for making the hard part about being a musician so much easier!

- Danny from Vago
http://www.vagomusic.com

Writing to let you all know what a killer job I think you're doing with your publication. Having booked Grasshopper Takeover now independently and nationally for 7+ years, I've never come across a more thorough reference guide that has helped as much as the MPB in helping me to get my work done and cover all my bases. The music phone book has become our touring bible!

Thanks and keep up the good work!

- Curtis Grubb / GTO http://www.grasshoppertakeover.com

Your Music Phone Book is the best thing I have bought for my band - ever! We wanted live music clubs to play at and you delivered. We have done a few of those online booking websites and they always sucked. They only list half the music clubs and the numbers are always wrong. Your book has more music clubs than all of those on-line services put together and its always current.

I gotta say I was suspicious when I saw it was only 35.00, but I am soooooo glad I ordered it. We have gotten into 26 new music clubs on the East coast and we only bought the book four months ago. It would have been worth the 35 bucks if we only got one new music club, but 26!?!?!?! That's less than a buck a club. You guys rock!

XOXOXO

- Kayla Armastrange from The Mean Gurlz

We were contacted by Geffen Records today. They said they had heard about us before, but they called us this time because they saw our ad in the Music Phone Book. Can't thank you enough for helping us get signed.

- Barry T from The Jr Seniors

I would like to say thanks for putting out such a useful reference for promoters and artists looking for the services companies like mine provide.

Being the owner / operator of a regional sound and lighting company I have found the Music Phone Book to be an invaluable tool, both for making arrangements as well as promoting our services to the music industry. Your directory makes it possible for potential customers to find my services when they are planning their events.

Having a regional directory like yours has made advertising my services much more cost effective, I have not found a publication that targets "my" customers the way The Music Phone Book does. If you dont think advertising in the Music Phone Book is worthwhile - you need to get into another industry!

- Ken Thomas, Thomas Live Sound Engineering
http://kenthomaslivesound.com

I have bought the Music Atlas, Billboard's guide to touring and promotion, The Indie Bible and BYOFL and have used them for years. I wont be buying them anymore though. Your Phone Book lists all the contacts they have, plus a ton they dont.

Now that I have a copy of the Music Phone Book, I dont have to spend the $150 each year for those bitch ass magazines or waste all my time switching from one to another looking for basic info. Thanks for putting all the info into one book, and for selling it so cheap!

- Trevor Revnoir from Marmafunk

I wanted to thank you for the copy of the Music Phonebook you sent. I have been a booking agent for 12 years and never thought I would see another magazine that could compete with Pollstar. But your not competing - you beat them hands down!

- Ron Jeffries, a booking agent

Just wanted to drop you an email to say thanx. We got a artist box for our band in the last issue and were contacted about playing a national showcase because they saw our band in the Music Book.

I was suspicious when we did it but am a supporter for life now. We get promised so much BS for our band and it almost never turns out well. You guys did what you promised and it got us results. The music business needs more people like the Music Phone Book. Thanks for helping us out and let us know if we can do anything for you!

- Darby Hanson from Left Eye Lopers

The Music Phone Book is the only music guide that even bothers to list independent bands and that rocks. But your listing clubs that really want to book independent bands is even better. We now tour once a month - something we were never able to set up before we got your book. I dont know how much we have made from playing those shows but its a hell of a lot more than we paid for your book.

- Shane Tobin from Anatomically Correct

I just wanted to drop you a note tell you how much I appreciate the book you put together. As an independent musician I am always looking to pick up extra gigs which meant spending a ton of time on the phone trying to track the club booker down. After I got your book I started getting a bunch of new shows and I spent about 1 - 10th the time doing it. Three of the new places booked me right off the bat - no promo pac, no phone tag - just because I said I got their info out of the Music Phonebook. When I mention a company's name and I immediately get a gig as a result ... It just doesn't get any better than that. I got your book about a month ago and have already made over $1400 from the four shows we have played. Not a bad deal considering your book only cost me $35 bucks!

If a musician thinks 35 bucks is too much to pay for something as great as the Music Phonebook they must suck.

- Steve Dato from Marsuperkids

I wanted to write you guys with a testimonial because I decided to order your book after reading the ones you have on your website. Got your book in May, by June I had booked a tour from California to Texas and back - 18 shows total. Aside from the 4 clubs we had played at before, the rest were straight out of your book. I probably made about 30 phone calls to set up the tour. I used to make twice as many calls to get booked into a single new club because I could never get ahold of the person who booked the place. But since your book lists their cel numbers and when to call, it was the easiest thing I have ever done. Thanks for putting together such a smokin book for independent musicians!

- Josh Tastell from Wrong Way Home

As a booking agent who works with mid level bands music venues are my bread and butter. I have never seen anything that comes close to your book in terms of venues. But the publicists, print publications, websites and promoters is the icing on the cake. I never thought I would see a music magazine that could hold a candle to pollstar.

Props to you for putting together such a helpful tool for the music industry.

- Gavin Portous from Naked Booking

Hey I wanted to tell you how much I liked your book. We have been trying to get signed to a label and have bought a bunch of music mags looking for label contacts. I used to think the A&R directory was the best book for finding labels. That was till I saw the Music Phone Book. Your book is half the price and lists every label the A&R guide does, plus a ton they dont have. That alone makes your book the best - but with all the other info - entertainment attorneys, managers, publicists and more its easy to see why the Music Phone Book is so respected by the music industry. I cant thank you enough for putting your book out, I will be getting a copy every year from now on!

- Toby McIntosh from Yesterday's Pie

Your magazine is the greatest thing since electrified instruments. Our band got a copy of the book last year and we used the shit out of it. It hasnt been a year since we picked it up but we have made over $4,000 from playing at shows that we were booked using the music phone book. I wouldnt have believed it a year ago but here we are.

It is so hard for indie bands to get gigs and making money from something we buy other than our instruments has never happened to us before. My only complaint with you is I never heard about your book till last year. You need to advertise it more. I think if other indie bands knew how helpful your book was every band in the country would have a copy. On second thought - dont advertise any more. We'll take those shows ourselves!

- Paul Scott from Nobody Died

The Music Phone Book is the most important piece of equipment our band has. Yea I know instruments should be there - but buying a new guitar or amp never got us in the door like your book. The fact that live music clubs are impressed with us because we have your book says a lot about your reputation. Your book didn't just tell us where to play - your book helped us get the gig. I never thought something besides our music would open doors for us. Thanks for helping us out.

- Sam Winston from Winston Saveum

You need to post this on your website. If your in a band and reading this message let me tell you one thing: the Music Phone Book is the best friend your band can have. I was skeptical when I was at the website cause I have been promised many things - a guarantee to get our band signed, a guarantee to get our band in a music showcase, bla bla bla. It always turns out to be a scam. But here comes the Music book. Costs so little you think there must be a catch. But you get it and its everything it says it is and a bunch more. You'll never spend less and get more for your band. I have never had ANYTHING that helped our band more. Thanks music book & keep it up.

- Rodney Epps from Wishing Chair

Thought I would email you to tell you we lined up a booking agent for our band out of your book. I used to think we weren't big enough to have a real booking agent, think again. We have completed three successful regional tours playing over 60 dates. We even had a few label A&R people see us on the road. It looks like were getting close to getting signed and it would have never happened if we didn't get your book. Thanks for being an honest band aid - the industry needs more people like the music phone book.

- Jon Belrose from The Mighty Red

I don't think I have seen a music magazine that didn't have an ad on every other page slinging some bullshit product for musicians. I must use your book every day and probably only see one ad a week. Its nice to buy something that is what it claims to be - you have that part nailed down. I cant tell you how helpful your book is. Its almost like you can read my mind with all the info you list - its exactly the info we need - and none of the BS that I see everywhere else. Keep on slingin' your book and ill keep on pickin' it up!

- Leonard Q from Q Tip Lover

When our bass player told us he spent $100 to get our pic in some music book we were pissed as hell. We just finished recording our Cd and didn't have cash to spend on anything other than cd duplication and art. But after our release we got write ups in five different music papers, because they remembered seeing our band in your book after we sent out our press release. Before that we had only gotten one line about us in a local column. Now we have press in our promo pack and that has made a big difference when talking to new clubs. You got us free press and new gigs and we have made about 20x what we paid for putting our pic in your book. I guess bass players know what they're doing after all.

- Kenny Hart, lead singer for Optical Illusions

Im a big believer of if it sounds too good to be true it isn't. I felt that way after I saw your website so I didn't order a copy- 35 bucks for all you promise - no way that right! Then Im at a show at a new club in town to see a friend of mine's band. I asked my bud how they got booked since I hadnt even been able to reach the person who books the shows. He just smiled and pulled out a copy of your book and told me the guy was never at the club and you had to call his cel. The people at the club told me the same thing but they wouldn't give me his cel number. When I looked at my friends copy of your book the guys cel number was right there. That was amazing since your book came out before the club even opened. How you got that info before the club was open ill never know. But I will get a copy of your book the day it comes out from now on!

- Bob Ross from Afterburned

I heard about your book for the first time at a music conference this summer. During one of the panels a guy in the audience stood up and started telling everyone how much help your book was for him and his band.

I talked to him afterwards and he told me his band was making about five times as much as they used to from their live shows and that was all because of your book because they now played so many more shows. From the way he talked about it I thought he must work for the music phone book. Now that I have used it myself I know why he was so passionate about your book - its that helpful!

- Kelly Dean from Swapping Sisters

Your website says the Music Phone Book was created by musicians for musicians. I have used other music guides before and thought they were great - until I got a copy of your book. You can tell it was laid out by someone who knew what was important to independent bands. Its way easy to use and never lets me down. Oh yeah, being half the price of the books I used to use with about twice as much information doesn't hurt either.

- Barefoot Jeb from Forgotten Promise

Finally a company that is more interested in helping indie musicians than collecting as many ducats as you can. 35 bucks for the music phone book is like stealing. Never spent so little and gotten so much. Thanks for keeping your book affordable to us starving musicians!

- Paulo Malo from Anticipate Grief

I saw the review of your book on a music website where the author was giving you so much love I thought it must be someone who worked for you. After I got my copy I know why he was so hyped on your book. Ive never seen anything else like it. We made $350 form the fist show we lined up using your book, and we only paid 35. All I can say is thank you.

- Trevor Rassmuss from Dangerous Toys

Our band had never done anything to promote ourselves to the people who hire us until we ran an ad in your book, mostly because there was nowhere we could. Well so far I have had a dozen clubs call us to line up shows. They called us! I found out if a club calls you, they are going to pay you and I dont mean 50 bucks. So far we have made over 3 grand from the clubs who called us. Not bad since we only paid 300 for our ads.

Any band out there that doesnt think promoting your band to the people who will hire your band is worthwhile is an moron. Make sure you call us again cause were going to run a bigger ad next year.

- Gordon S from Funk Off

Your magazine is butter. I heard about it through a thread on Craig's list and the post had like 50 replies by people who use it. I dont think I have ever seen a BB thread where at least one person isn't bagging on the subject. The fact they all had great things to say out your magazine sold me. I got the magazine two days after I ordered it and added my own post to the thread almost immediately. If there is any way I can help you guys out let me know. There aren't enough people out there who TRUELY want to help us broke musicians.

- Harry Franks from The Hairy Franks

I have bought four guitars and have had a lot of fun playing them. But none of them have paid for themselves. Your book did that with one show. Do I want to get a copy of the new book? I already ordered it baby!

- Ian Snell from I've got an Ian Sac

Our band moved to California last year. LA is probably the most competitive music scene anywhere and we weren't exactly burning it up playing till we got your book. The first six months we were here we played 10 shows. After getting your book we have played at 25 new venues in 2 months. 16 of the clubs have already booked us for more shows.

We were about ready to pack it in and head back home. Instead we just had a story written about how we have "exploded in LA" in the LA Weekly. None of it would have happened without your book. Thanks for saving our asses!

- Ralph Garner from R U 1

Our band has been invited to two regional music showcases because they saw our ad in your book. These are the same showcases that turned us down when we submitted our stuff last year.

We call them - they wont even listen to our CD. We run an ad in your magazine - they call and invite us without us applying.

Nuff said.

- Jason Farlander from Not This Time

I just wanted to post this message to tell all the musicians out there how the Music Phone Book really helped me and my band out.

About 2 months ago I used the Music Phone Book to book a tour that consisted of four states including 20 venues we had never played at before. Right before I went on tour a terrible thing happened...my house burned down. I was devastated by the loss. I not only lost my equipment, but also everything else I owned.

About a week after my loss I got a courtesy call from the Music Phone Book to confirm my band's information for their next issue. I talked to them for a while and the subject of my house came up. They were very sympathetic of my situation.

After the conversation I didn't expect to hear from them again since they had just confirmed my information. But they called me about a month later just to see how I was doing!!! That was so incredible to me!!! These people took the time out to see how I was doing. If that isn't customer service I don't know what is!!!

Since then I have gotten another copy of the Music Phone Book and I am working on getting a tour set back up. I am very pleased with the Music Phone Book and especially their staff. I will continue to recommend the Music Phone Book to every musician I meet. I am a Music Phone Book customer for life!

- David Peterson from Revel the Masses

I cant believe how much your book has grown. I got a copy of your first book in 2000 and it totally helped us find places to play. But that book was only 50 pages, the last one I got was over 300.

Each year you add a bunch of new content and more information than the last year, but the price has only gone up 10 bucks since you started. When I confirmed my band's info the last time I told the guy I was surprised the price hadnt gone up sooner or more.

He said that everyone who works there either plays in a band or has worked in the music biz and they all remember how hard it was to start out and how money is always an issue. He said they only raised the price because the book costs so much more to print than when it was only 50 pages, but its been over 200 pages every year except the first. To wait 4 years before raising the price says a lot about how sincere the Music Phone Book is about helping indi musicians.

Thanks for putting the bands first. I dont know of anyone else who would show that kind of love to indi bands! Our band has grown quite a bit in the last five years and one of the reasons is your book. I just wanted to write and say thank you.

- Kendal James from The Kief Keepers

If a band doesn't think they need to get the Music Phone Book, they need to get out of the business. I have never seen anything that is so helpful to indie bands. $35 bucks? Hell I'd pay 5 times as much and still be grinning like an idiot!

- Jeff Luther, a band manager

I have never seen a magazine like yours before. I cant believe all the music clubs you list and all the info for each music club. When I saw it said what day & time to call to reach the music club booking person I laughed and said 'no way'. But when I called during those times I always get the person on the phone. I cant believe none of the other music guides figured out that info was important. You have cut down the amount of time I spend calling music clubs in half.

- Kim Wilde from Straight Rain Booking

I received a phone call from the Music Phone Book, asking if I'd like to be included in their listings. Free? I asked. "Since you are a subscriber, there is no charge" they said. So I said Hell, yeah!

A month or so after that issue went to press, I began to notice a huge jump in inquiries to the e-mail address I'd listed, with letters and notes about booking and exchanging shows from as far away as Juneau, Alaska. That's how big of an impact the book has. They list venues, bands, club bookers, music labels, anything you might need. It's pretty cool. I strongly encourage anybody in the music scene who wants a little extra edge for their bands or their businesses to pick up a copy, or at the very least, submit your information for the next issue.

- Tommy Gunn

What most local bands will find helpful about the Music Phone Book is that it provides the in-depth coverage that every other industry magazine skips. The direct phone numbers & e mail address for the people who book the bands, not just a number where you reach a grumpy bartender.

- Chuck LaRue

More live music club booking contacts than any other magazine I have seen, and I've seen them all.

- TJ / Skat

I got a copy of your magazine at this year's Grammy Awards. I've been in the business for close to 20 years and have never seen a magazine with that much information. Keep up the good work.

- BB

We have never been in something like this. Thanks for hooking us up! We've gotten calls from all over the country. Thanks!!!!!!!!

- DVS Mindz

We've gotten a lot of responses from your directory already and it's only been out a week.

- Carol Flynn

Hi all, thanks for listing my club, the house of bricks in Des Moines. I've already booked several bands that were listed in, or called me after seeing us in your magazine. It makes my job easier and I appreciate that.

- J. C. Wilson from The House of Bricks
http://www.thehouseofbricks.com

I think it appears to be a very well put together publication and I definitely intend to use it as a resource when booking our next tour. Thanks again!

- BJ from the bedraggled

Well formatted and really well done. I'm glad somebody took the trouble to do what you're doing. I've gotten calls in the past couple months from guys I have not seen in upwards of twenty years - guys I've wondered about many times - and we're talking again. Keep up the good work.

- Bobby Jones

I would like to thank the Music Phone Book for your contribution to the 44th Annual Grammy Awards. We thank you for your generosity and we look forward to your involvement with future Grammy events.
